Zip system is a premium solution for outdoor spaces: terraces, balconies, restaurant patios, hospitality verandas, panoramic French windows. Ideal for the Macedonian summer (sun protection + insect screen) and winter (wind protection on glazed terraces). Often used in hotels and wineries in the Ohrid region for both look and performance.

How they work

The zip system is an advanced variant of an external roller blind. The fabric has a zip profile sewn onto the side edges that runs in the side aluminium rail — this keeps the fabric tensioned without vibration, no flapping in wind, and no side gaps for light, insects or smells. The fabric is a special screen — material that blocks 80-95% of sunlight but allows views from inside out. Motorised by default, with optional wind sensor.

Zip systems are priced per square metre and cost more because of the complex hardware and motorised mechanism. The price depends on size (single system up to 5×3 m), cassette colour (RAL of choice), screen fabric type (different opacity %) and whether a wind / sun sensor is included. Minimum 4 m². Price includes a technical site survey, manufacturing and installation.

Can the zip system be used in winter?

Yes — the tensioned fabric blocks wind chill and provides additional insulation. For full winter use we recommend pairing it with closed glazing on the terrace.

How long do they last outdoors?

The aluminium structure — 20+ years. The screen fabric — 10-15 years under normal exposure. The motor has a 5-year warranty with replacement parts available.

Do they allow a view through?

Depends on fabric opacity. Standard 5% screen allows views from inside out while blocking 95% of solar heat. For full privacy — choose a blackout variant.
